Inspiration for the ultimate Australian holiday

Reinforce Your Unique Selling Proposition

The sheer vastness of Australia makes it a spectacular place to travel – especially by road. Wide, open highways cut through the Red Center like an asphalt vein, connecting remote towns and villages to the outer edges of the country. The Stuart Highway charts a line through the middle of the country, from the north coast to the south, and has some of the best desert vistas.

Elsewhere, the Gold Coast Highway in Queensland offers gorgeous ocean view after gorgeous ocean view, and some brilliant seaside towns to stop off at for surfing, barbeques or simply lazing about on beautiful beaches. And the Gibb River Road in WA offers some of the most exciting terrain – prepare your clients for driving off-road through rivers and ravines.

Whether you book a rental car, a camper van or a full-blown RV for you clients, they’ll love road tripping in Australia.

If your clients haven’t been to Rottnest Island, they’re in for a treat. Not only is it a gorgeous nature reserve, sitting off the shores of Perth in Western Australia, with white-sand beaches and great surf breaks. But it’s also home to one of the cutest, most curious creatures in Australia – the quokka.

These tiny, chubby-cheeked animals are part of the macropod family – the same as kangaroos and marsupials – but they are much smaller. About the size of a domestic cat, with perky little ears and dark brown eyes, they are incredibly cute, and when photographed right, they’ll even smile for the camera!

Australia is slowly re-opening. The Australian Government has outlined a national three step plan to relax restrictions imposed to contain the coronavirus. Travel and social distancing restrictions won’t be immediately lifting everywhere, though, with each state and territory moving forward at a pace that best suits their own individual circumstances.

COVID-19 safety updates

Australian airports remain open however Australians are restricted from travelling overseas. There are also major restrictions on incoming travellers and disruptions to flight schedules.

Our road to recovery starts from home.

While many of Australia’s towns and cities don’t date back beyond the 1800s, there is an ancient culture still thriving here today. In fact, did you know Aboriginal Australians have the world’s oldest living culture? Throughout Australia, there’s opportunity to engage with and understand Aboriginal history, from viewing monuments like Uluru in the Red Center to learning about dot painting in the Kimberley.

There are tours focused solely on Aboriginal food, where your clients can learn to spear fish, catch crab or fossick for bush tucker. In the Daintree Rainforest, Aboriginal guides will help your clients explore the Mossman Gorge, where stunning waterfalls cascade over rugged cliffs, and they’ll learn about sacred ceremonies and the Aboriginals’ connection to the land there.

Social distancing can be easy here.

Over the past year, bushfires have torn through our communities and COVID-19 has stopped international tourists from visiting. But, through the worst, we have seen the best of Australians.

Generosity, resilience, and a sense of responsibility for the wellbeing of each other that can only be described as mateship. And yet the challenge isn’t over.

As holidaymakers look elsewhere, the Australian communities who rely on tourism to thrive need our support.

Tour guides. Restaurateurs. Cabbies. Dive instructors. Baristas. Hoteliers. Retailers. Artists… the list is endless.

And most of them are good to go, ready for your visit.

That’s why we’re asking everyone to get out there to see our beautiful country. Book a week or weekend away. Revisit your favourite spot or discover somewhere new. There are beds aplenty at hotels, resorts and campsites. And locals just waiting to say ‘G’day’.

See Australia. Our home. And support all the incredible people who live here. Because now, more than any other time, Australia needs you to say,  “I’m going to holiday here this year.”
