New York City derives its personality from hundreds of communities that feel like cities (and worlds) of their own. Once travelers have come to NYC, they should take time to discover every corner of it, finding the cuisine, shops, nightlife and characters that make this the most exciting place in the world. You could live in the City for years and still not make it to every neighborhood.

The Bronx: The northernmost borough is the birthplace of hip-hop and home to the New York Yankees. Families can greet the animals of the world-famous Bronx Zoo or gaze at the plants of the lush New York Botanical Garden.

A stroll on Arthur Avenue, the Bronx’s Little Italy, offers culinary treats; Grand Concourse, in the South Bronx, serves up art deco marvels.

Brooklyn: Brooklyn entertains multitudes. Head to Williamsburg for craft cocktails and vintage threads. Got kids? Prospect Park and Park Slope beckon, as does the borough’s restaurant scene—which features some of the best New York–style pizza anywhere. And everyone loves the views along the scenic Brooklyn Heights Promenade.

Manhattan: When newcomers think of New York City, they often envision Manhattan. It holds big-name attractions like Central Park and the Empire State Building, renowned museums like the Met and MoMA, thousands of restaurants and a creative scene second to none.

But there’s always more to discover, like charming blocks, funky shops and hidden green spaces.

Queens: Queens can satisfy nearly every taste. Foodies covet the Greek cuisine of Astoria and the authentic Asian food in Flushing; others admire the inventive art at Socrates Sculpture Park and the stunning flora at the Queens Botanical Garden.

In the borough’s southern extremes, the surf is always up at Rockaway Beach.

Staten Island: Staten Island abounds with architectural landmarks, beaches and parkland that you can explore. Many reach the borough via the free Staten Island Ferry, an attraction in its own right.

Other highlights include shopping at Empire Outlets in St. George and wandering the gorgeous grounds of Snug Harbor and Historic Richmond Town.

Attractions Around NYC

Whether your clients are a first-time visitor checking off icons like the Statue of Liberty, Times Square and the Empire State Building or a veteran traveler exploring every neighborhood and unearthing hidden gems, visitors will find something to suit their tastes in New York City.

Attraction passes are an easy, affordable and family-friendly way to see everything on their bucket list in one trip.

Museums and galleries are among New York City’s most powerful draws.

Be sure to mention major attractions like the Guggenheim, the American Museum of Natural History and the Whitney Museum of American Art, which have earned the City’s reputation as a world capital of culture.

Dig a bit deeper to find hundreds of great institutions specializing in subjects like immigrant history, film and television, and more.

Tours: It’s fun to explore New York City on your own, but tour guides offer expert knowledge and connections that you can’t get anywhere else.

While shedding light on hundreds of lesser-known neighborhoods, they share inside perspectives on history, pop culture, art, cuisine and all of the other things that make New York City so special.

Museums & Galleries

New York City is the sports capital of the world, with major events like the NYC Marathon and the US Open Tennis Championships alongside multiple professional teams in every popular spectator sport with their own unique fan cultures.

As competition resumes in full after many seasons being canceled or cut short by the pandemic, sports fans should be more eager than ever to be a part of it.

When night falls, New York City offers infinite options for infinite tastes.

Choose from sophisticated cocktail dens, friendly dive bars or bottle-service-only dance clubs; DJs, live rock or hip-hop or standup comedy; and raucous dancing or quiet conversation. In a city of more than eight million that’s open around the clock, there’s always a reason to stay out just a bit longer.
