Alternative Things to Do in Singapore

If your clients are hoping to go off-the-beaten track, there are plenty of hip haunts, cool hangouts and hidden gems in Singapore.

Island Hopping

Singapore’s newest attraction, Coney Island, is a 50-hectare island accessible on foot from Punggol Point Park and great for cycling and bird-watching. Other islands worth visiting include Lazarus Island and Pulau Seringat. Hop onto a ferry at Marina South Pier and drop off at St John's Island, where unspoilt beaches await.

Shop for homegrown labels

Check out Singapore’s local talent and international indie labels at the fashion stores in ION Orchard or Raffles City Shopping Centre. Alternatively, head to orchardgateway for everyday wear, edgy pieces, trendy outfits and more. For outlet shopping recommend IMM Jurong

Visit old school trade places like a traditional bakery, a coffee roasting factory and a shop selling paper offerings for the deceased. Or -a total contrast- discover Jewel Changi Airport, an architectural marvel that's  both an airport terminal and a shopping mall, with eye-catching attractions like the 40-metre high HSBC Rain Vortex, the world's tallest indoor waterfall.

Visit a farm (or two)

Singapore may be known to many as an urban metropolis, but your clients will be surprised to find several farms in the outskirts of the city. Many city-slicking green thumbs have taken to urban farming to grow their own food. Get the farm-to-table experience at eateries such as Open Farm Community.

Visit lesser-known museums and galleries

Lovers of retro culture can drop by the MINT Museum of Toys, while art aficionados will find a range of oriental artifacts at Black Earth Art Museum. For a dose of both culture and community, your clients should drop by My Queenstown Museum.

Explore Singapore’s wet markets

Discover the spots where locals shop for fresh produce, frozen meats, spices, dried foods, and more at wet markets in neighbourhoods like Tiong Bahru (Tiong Bahru Wet Market), Chinatown (Chinatown Complex) and Little India (Tekka Centre).

Taste It All. Taste Singapore

From Michelin-starred delicacies and international cuisines to scrumptious creations by homegrown chefs and timeless hawker favourites, Singapore is where your clients can taste it all. The country's multi-ethnic culture and heritage presents a multitude of colourful cuisines, each with its own unique flavour.

The diverse range of dining options caters to food lovers from all walks of life with a cuisine for every taste and budget. The local street fare is a delicious melting pot of Singapore’s diverse cultures, while the country’s vibrant fine dining scene has emerged as one of the world’s most exciting, featuring many celebrity chef restaurants.

Singapore’s nightlife scene is full of music, drinks and entertainment. Your clients can dance to the beats of world-class DJs at a megaclub, enjoy a bespoke tipple at a discreet cocktail bar or check out a live band before having a big laugh at a comedy club. The choices are limited only by their imagination.

Relax, Wellness and Fitness

In Singapore your clients can rejuvenate their mind and supercharge their body with fitness, lifestyle and wellness options. From yoga sessions in the heart of the bustling city to idyllic forays into the lush tropical landscape, your clients are bound to experience a newfound summer of mind, body and spirit.

Whether they are looking for an adrenaline rush or a day of relaxing in the sun the island resort of Sentosa is bound to enchant and delight your clients. The island offers a range of inspiring activities, from kayaking to stand-up paddling.

New ways of wellness include yoga classes aboard a luxury tall ship with Royal Albatross.  For thrills and spills, Hydrodash is a floating aqua park with inflatable attractions and obstacles that'll make for the perfect romp for the young and the young at heart.

Another great activity to recommend is a sunrise stroll or jog along the iconic Henderson Waves, Singapore’s highest pedestrian bridge standing at 36 metres above the ground.

For a bout of relaxation in a natural surrounding, Gardens by the Bay’s cool and misty Cloud Forest Dome contains a 30-metre-tall indoor waterfall and stunning views to unwind.

For a breath of fresh air away from the city, your clients should head to the wetlands of Sungei Buloh, an ecological gem in the north-east of Singapore.
