Getting Married in Dominican Republic

With its romantic scenery of uninterrupted white sand beaches, in addition to a plethora of resort offerings on multiple coastlines, the Dominican Republic is a popular pick for destination weddings.

Unforgettable Beaches

White sand beaches that seem to endlessly run into the horizon, punctuated with slim coconut trees reaching the skies: it’s what the Dominican Republic is best known for. South to east, and north, your clients will keep busy finding their favorite plot of sand along our 1,600-kilometer (1,000-mile) sandy coastline.

Over 200 beaches—many of which remain uncrowded and undeveloped—line the Caribbean and the Atlantic coastlines, ranging from a brilliant white to a handful of black sand stretching southwest. Visit Punta Cana’s world-renowned 48-kilometer (30-mile) stretch, but also consider Samaná’s world-ranked beaches such as Playa Rincón.

On the north coast, you’ll be spoiled for choice, from Playa Cabarete to Playa Grande, or Playa Punta Rucia. Go off-the-beaten track to Playa El Valle, or Playa Frontón—reached by boat—sure to leave visitors speechless.

Caribbean-facing beaches are safe year round, while northern coastline requires more attention to weather conditions before swimming. Sundays are family beach day for Dominicans, and visitors will find plenty of food and music.

From adrenaline-pumping action to colorful culture, here are six adventures you should recommend it to your clients!

Embark on a whale watching adventure in the Samaná Peninsula: Every year from January through March, thousands of humpback whales arrive to the Samaná Peninsula for mating season.

Boat tours take tourists on the water to catch a glimpse of the majestic mammals, and specialized tour operators give animal lovers a chance to swing alongside the whales in a safe environment. Visitors can also catch a glimpse of the 40-ton whales from land at Punta Balandra.

Go rafting on the longest river in the Country: Dominican Republic is home to the Yaque Del Norte River—the longest river in the country. Starting in Jarabacoa, set off on a rafting adventure that features level-two rapids. Recommend your clients to book a day trip with local outfitters that provide certified guides, training and safety equipment as they lead visitors along the most thrilling sections of the rushing river.

Paraglide through central Dominican Republic: If your clients always dreamed of flying, take to the skies over the mountains and valleys of Jarabacoa and Constanza on a paragliding tour. Visitors will strap in alongside a certified professional instructor then glide over the waterfalls, villages and fields below.

Slide down waterfalls in Puerto Plata: Dominican Republic is a prime destination for canyoning and rappelling, with rugged rainforests and waterfalls that naturally lend themselves to active adventures.

The 27 Charcos de Damajagua waterfalls near Puerto Plata is one of the country’s most popular spots for canyoning. Your clients will start their journey by hiking through dense forest, then descend by sliding down a series of waterfalls into the turquoise pools below.
